Pet Travel Question: Transiting with a Pet Through Vienna

I am going to be transiting through Vienna, Austria on my way to the United States from Russia. Does my dog need to meet any of the requirements of Austria if we are only transiting through?

Hi Jaala,

That's a great question. Unless you are switching airlines or leaving the airport you will not need to meet Austria's specific pet import requirements, and you should just focus on the pet import requirements for the United States. Fortunately these country rules are less stringent than many others -- the United States does not impose a quarantine upon arrival, for example.
