I'm moving from the US (Oregon) to Vienna, Austria. What do I need to do and when should I start to prep for entry into Austria? Also, if I vacation back to the US what will be needed? Thanks! -Natasha

Thanks for checking in with us about your upcoming pet move! To help get you started, here are the Pet Import Requirements for Austria. It's a good idea to give yourself plenty of time to prepare, so it depends on when you're leaving but you'll probably want to begin the process soon. As for coming back to the states, you'll need to meet the Import Requirements for the US and then once again make sure you abide by the Austria import requirements in order to reenter that country.
Since international travel can cause anxiety for both people and pets, we usually suggest you consider the situation carefully before shipping a pet. If it's for a vacation and not for a permanent move, you may find it to be easier to leave your dog behind with a trusted caretaker.
