Pet travel to Nigeria

Name: Corky P.
Number of Pets: 2
Pet Type: Cats
Pet Breed: Domestic Short Hair

To: Lagos, Nigeria

I am getting mixed inormation from airlines about traveling from Houston to Lagos with cats in the cabin. Some airlines say that cats in the cabin going into Nigeria is no problem. Others say that the Nigerian Consulate require the pets to be checked baggage or cargo (but not in the cabin). Can you help clarify? I would have expected that all airlines should be saying the same thing if it is a Nigerian Customs regulation. Thanks, Desparately trying to get cats in the cabin. -Corky

Hello Corky,

Thanks for your inquiry. Our research indicates that there's no ban on bringing small pets in the cabin when flying to Lagos, however it's ultimately best to check with the airline you'll be using, as their individual policies may be different. You may also check with the Nigerian Customs Office to find out about their most up-to-date import guidelines.
