Dear PetRelocation,

What is the wait period prior to moving to UAE and how difficult is it to move my dog back to the US? Are there breeds not allowed entry to the UAE?

Thanks,

Lissa

Hi Lissa,

Thanks for the question. Moving a dog to the UAE will require a fair amount of planning, but we have moved many pets here safely and would be happy to advise you. Take a look at the pet import requirements for the UAE for an idea of what to expect. As you can see you'll need full vaccinations, a microchip and an APHIS 7001.

Here's another source discussing moving to and living with pets in the UAE. A few dogs are banned from entering the UAE, including Pit Bull Terriers and Japanese Tosas, but your border collie should be fine.

When it comes time to return to the United States, you'll simply need to follow the import rules outlined here. Note that these requirements are pretty simple and straightforward compared to many other countries.

If you have further questions or would like some help arranging your move, please contact us at your convenience. Thanks again for reaching out, and good luck with everything!
