DonҒt forget the famous Pikes Peak region of the Rockies; magnificent describes the towering mass soaring some 14,110 feet above Colorado Springs, this mountain indeed serves as one of the nation's most famous landmarks. Access to the summit can be obtained via the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, or by driving the Pikes Peak Highway which winds through stands of pine and aspen. Bring a jacket as the temperature is about 20 degrees cooler up top.

Be sure to visit the Colorado Springs Pioneer Museum, and a real live ghost town. Go back in time 100 years as you slip into an old saloon, visit a sheriff's office and the town jail, or even pan for gold. Cowboy fun can be had at the shooting gallery.
