Pet Travel Question: Moving Dogs to Puerto Rico

Name: Theresa
Number of Pets: 2
Pet Type: Dogs
Pet Breed: Mastiff/Lab and Chihuahua Mix
From: Las Vegas
To: Puerto Rico

My appointment for the dogs to be vaccinated is on the 9th. My flight is on the 7th the following month. Will there be a problem with the dog's vaccinations being two days short of 30 days? Also, neither of them have been fixed, is that a requirement?

Thanks,

Theresa

Hi Theresa,

Thanks for the questions. Yes, the rabies vaccinations need to be done at least 30 days before departure, so it sounds like you'll need to fly the dogs at a later date. Keep in mind that you don't need to be on the same flight as your dogs, so having them stay behind and then having a friend or a relocation company send them later is certainly an option. In fact, most of the pets we fly are are not on the same plane as their owners. As for your second question: having the dogs spayed/neutered is not required.

Please contact us if you have any more questions, and good luck with everything!
