Pet Travel Question: Moving Pets to Puerto Rico

Name: Crystal
Number of Pets: Three
Pet Type: One dog, two cats
Pet Breed: Chihuahua (and not sure about the cats)
From: West Palm Beach, Florida
To: Puerto Rico

Hello, I am moving to Puerto Rico with my husband and four teenagers plus our pets, who are also our family. I need to know what are the specific things that need to be done.

If they get their shots and paperwork in order would we be able to leave in two weeks or do we have to wait for 30 days?

Thank you so much for your assistance,

Crystal

Hi Crystal,

Thanks for contacting us! These are the pet import requirements for Puerto Rico. If your pets are up to date on their rabies vaccinations then you should be able to fly them in two weeks (as long as you obtain the health certificate in the ten days before departure, as well). Puerto Rico is not considered an international transfer when coming from the United States.

Please let us know if you have more questions, and good luck with the trip!
