Pet Travel Question: Vacationing vs. Relocating With a Dog

Hi PetRelocation,

We are not moving internationally, only vacationing for one month. Do the same restrictions apply regarding a microchip?

Thanks,

Beverly

Hi Beverly,

Whether you're moving permanently or just traveling for a vacation, you'll need to meet all the pet import requirements for the country to which you're traveling, and if you're planning to return you'll need to meet those requirements, as well.

Take a look here to find out more about the pet import requirements that apply to you.

In terms of the microchip (as it sounds like your dog doesn't have one and you may be a little hesitant about it, though some pet owners feel uncertain about microchips at first, a little research reveals that they're well worth the peace of mind they offer and the insertion process is very minor. Here's more about microchipping pets from our blog.

Please contact us if you have any more questions, and have a great trip!
