Dear PetRelocation,

How does the pet relocation process work, and how much does it cost?

Thanks,

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

Pet travel isn't exactly intuitive -- it requires specialized knowledge that comes from lots of research and experience. In other words, you're doing the right thing by going online and asking questions!

Moving cats within the United States requires that they be up to date on their rabies vaccines, and if you're flying you'll need a vet health certificate stating the cats are fit to fly (this is required by all airlines). If you are flying, we recommend choosing a pet friendly airline (we often use United).

Other considerations include making sure your cats are as comfortable with their crates as possible -- here are a few tips for crate training cats.

If you're interested in some professional assistance with your move,  please fill out our free quote form. PetRelocation offers door-to-door pick up and delivery and helps to arrange all the move details in between. We'd be happy to talk to you more about your relocation if you're interested -- the final costs will depend on a few factors, but domestic moves usually begin at around $1,000 for a small pet.

Hopefully this helps to get you started in the right direction! Let us know if you'd like to talk further, and good luck with everything.
