Pet Travel Question: Does my cat need a microchip?

Hi PetRelocation,

Do cats traveling from the United States into Russia have to be microchipped prior to moving to Russia?

Thanks,
Kari

Hi Kari,

Yes, your cat should have a microchip. Here are all the pet import requirements for Russia, and you can find out more about internationally-approved microchips on our blog.

Though many pet owners don't initially love the idea of a microchip, it helps to know that they are very small (about the size of a grain of rice) and are easily implanted. Most pets handle the procedure with little trouble and pet owners can feel more secure knowing their pet can be easily identified in the case of separation.

Please contact us for a consultation if you have any more questions about transporting cats or if you're interested in enslisting our services.

Thanks for the question, and good luck with everything!
