Pet Travel Question: Layovers and Pet Flights to Asia

Pet Friendly Airlines for Pet Travel to Asia

Hi PetRelocation,

Do you recommend booking a long (21 hrs) direct flight for a nervous dog or is it better to book a layover?

Do you have an airline you recommend that flies US to Asia?

-Risha

Great question, Risha! It might surprise some people, but we do generally recommend booking a layover in order to give pets a chance to stretch their legs and spend some time outside the travel crate. Though it will make the overall trip a bit longer, we believe pets greatly benefit from having a break.

For international pet shipping, we often use pet-friendly airlines like United, Lufthansa and KLM for our clients' pets, as these carriers make an effort to take top-notch care of traveling pets. When traveling cargo with one of these airlines, your pet will be transported by trained professionals and supervised during layovers, and they will also be kept in temperature-controlled environments.

You may already be acquainted with the Singapore pet import process, but just in case here is a link to our Singapore pet travel guide. Hope this helps!
