Pet Move Spotlight: Abby Finds a Happy Home

Sequoa/AbbyWhen Elaine booked a vacation to go to Yellowstone National Park, she had no idea her life would change forever. While enjoying her recent trip, this traveler learned of a dog who had been living at her hotel for the past two years. Though the hotel owners fed the dog and watched out for her, this sweet black pup never had the chance to be a part of a real home.

Elaine fell in love with this orphan immediately, and she contacted PetRelocation to help bring the dog home with her to Chicago. She had no knowledge of what it takes to move a pet, but she knew that this dog, who she named Abby, belonged with her.

Elaine drove Abby to Sacramento, where PetRelocation connected her with an agent who would board Abby until she could get onto a flight. Mari (the agent) saw that Abby was a bit shell-shocked after being taken out into the world for the first time in who-knows-how-long, so she took extra special care of her.

Mari spent two hours giving Abby a bath (it took this long because the dog was pretty dirty and also very scared), and after that brought her home for a couple of days to make sure she had a chance to eat, rest, and get used to her travel crate before the big flight.

Abby flew "home" to Chicago last night, and we wish her all the best as she settles in! Hopefully we'll have some updates to share soon.
