Incredible Experiences: Nela’s Move to China from California

Nela“Safe And Sound from San Francisco to Shenzhen”

I chose PetRelocation because we were ready to embark on a very long and complicated journey from San Francisco to Shenzhen, China, and I wanted to work with a company that was not only responsive to me to answer all of my questions, but also a company that had done the move before.

PetRelocation had so many recommendations it was impossible to look anywhere else.

PetRelocation helped get our dog ready for a move into a country that has very complicated dog regulations, and they never had us worried for a second. They even delivered our dog to our home earlier then expected! She was safe, happy and still wagging her tail.

We couldn't have asked for anything better. Thank you Sarah and Penney for your diligent hard work and patience!

Hi, just wondering how long Nela had to spend in quarantine in China? Was the process of getting her into China complicated? Thanks!

Hi Lilian! Moving pets to China is very complex which is why we have a team dedicated to these relocations. Luckily, Nela did not have to spend time in quarantine. Feel free to check out our "Simple Guide to China Pet Moves" here or if you are ready to get started Arrange A Move with us and a representative on our China team will contact you shortly to discuss your options!

Hi Alexandra! Nela did not have to spend time in quarantine as the US does not require quarantine for pets. Feel free to check out this link for more information about moving pets to the US. Hope this helps!

Did Nela have to ride in cargo?

Hello and thanks for the question!

Nela did have to travel in cargo, due to her size. All airlines have weight restrictions for pets traveling in-cabin, which is why cargo tends to be the only option for larger breeds like Nela.

If you're worried about the conditions in cargo, we recommend reading this blog for more information on how cargo works.

We hope this helps!

What about the dog going to the bathroom, eating, and getting water? How does that work? Does someone walk them in between flights? Do they take direct flights or shorter ones so they get breaks in between?

Hi Sam! We typically like to arrange for comfort stops for pets while transiting, which is a layover at a pet hotel. While spending time at the pet hotel, pets can get water, food, out of their kennel to use the restroom, and a little TLC before continuing on the journey.

Each route is customized to fit the needs of our clients & their pets - so sometimes it is preferable we take a direct flight. However, the airline staff will refill their water before being loaded onto each flight. Check out these tips on how to prepare your pet for it's big flight, including preparing the kennel in case there are potty accidents. Hope this helps!
