Relocating Dogs to Belgium: Dakota and Harper’s Story

moving german shepherd to Belgium Harper and Dakota went on a journey overseas this year with the help of PetRelocation. These cuties are now enjoying their new home of Antwerp, Belgium, and we've loved seeing their photo updates! Read more about their travel experience below.

Last month, our family made the decision that we were going to embark on a new adventure in Belgium for an amazing job opportunity. With only about 2 months preparation we ran into a major problem, we had no idea how to get our two 65lb Shepherds, Harper & Dakota, from Detroit, Michigan to Antwerp, Belgium. We contacted several different pet transport companies, but it wasn’t until we found PetRelocation.com and got in touch with Kathy that our questions started to get answered and worries started to ease. Our major concern was that the travel crates were not going to be big enough to comply with international flying regulations. Kathy again came to our rescue and happily agreed to set up a Skype call where we showed her the dogs in their crates, she double checked that they met all of the regulations. After going through 5 different travel crates, we were thrilled that everything was finally good to go.

Once we had our move date confirmed, Kathy handed the reins over to Trish, who coordinated the details perfectly from booking their flights to arranging the vet visit for the health certificate. Trish was available by phone to answer all my questions and reiterate to me that my fur babies were going to be just fine. When moving day finally came, Harper and Dakota were prepared and did fantastic on their flight from Detroit to Frankfurt where they had their first comfort stop. From there they flew to Amsterdam and then were driven from the Netherlands to their new home in Belgium.

It didn’t take long for Harper & Dakota to settle into their new home in the city. They have made so many new doggy friends living walking distance from not one, but THREE dog parks. The dogs are also loving that Belgium allows dogs in most public building so they can now tag along when we want to grab a beer at the bar across the street or have to run to the bank.

Harper will celebrate her 1st birthday in early March and it’s hard to believe that she has already visited 5 different countries and has flown across the world in her short life. We cannot thank PetRelocation.com enough for all their help as we emBARK on our new European Adventure.
